Students used the clues from the postcard photo to make predictions about what it was, where it was from, and who had sent it to us. When it arrived, the students were only told that we had received something in the mail. On the first day they saw the postcard, they were only allowed to see the front side to make their predictions. Based on what they already know, some students guessed that it was Baltimore's inner harbor. Others noticed the Swedish flag (and remembered me mentioning Mr. Leifer's trip the previous week...) and guessed that it was from Sweden and from Mr. Leifer.
It was a really special way to learn a little bit about a different country. Thank you for thinking of us Mr. Leifer!
